How did they do it?

I've been away so excuse me if this is very old news...
How did Vogue UK make Vanessa Paradis look so bad?!
The woman who stole Johnny Depp's heart is usually so chic and gorgeous

I Love Shona Heath! Her work with Tim Walker has resulted in some of my favourite editorials ever.
So imagine my delight when I found she had done a 12 page spread in the new British Vogue, with Siri Tollerod modelling!
I do not really have a wide knowledge on set designers, but I always know a Shona Heath editorial as soon as I see it. I love her signature dreamy style.
I would love to spend just a day in Shona's studio watching her work and come up with beautiful ideas that transport you to another world.

Saturday Rain

It's pouring with rain and my room is beyond a mess..I now have 3 bags I still need to unpack from recent trips to Paris. sooo the best thing to do is wait by my front door for the new Vogue to drop onto the mat to provide a fresh distraction.
I always look forward to unwrapping it and discovering the brand new cover, this time I showed it to my boyfriend before I looked and asked him if I would be happy or annoyed by this month's cover.
'I don't think you'll be too pleased' was his answer

photo by me (i tried to scan it but the orange always comes out pink)

and well, I'm not delighted.

What have they done to Cameron!?!
Is it just me or does she look like a dodgy blonde Courtney Cox Arquette?
I think it's got something to do with the eyes.

Plus why do they need to cram so much oversized type on the cover?

I love finding old editorials that are still so relevant - leather shorts anyone!
Plus anything with Daria in is instantly a favourite

Still the best

Photographer: Patrick Demarchelier

I was inspired by a recent post by Knighttcat to dig out an all time favourite.
This Vogue 2007 shoot with Gemma Ward is STILL my fav shoot of all time.
The colours are incredible, the styling is eclectic in a way that hasn't dated, Gemma is simply amazing and it brings a smile to my face every time I see it.

Are there photoshoots that you always go back to?

March Twenty Ten

Got home to find my March 2010 issue of Vogue ready and waiting for me...
Not sure why I was so shocked to see the cover featuring Alexa Chung, but even with her being everywhere these days I was surprised to see her peering out from the oversized, overbearing text of the UK Vogue.

I think it may be because as stylish as Alexa Chung is considered to be, she was never Vogue.
She's not glossy and showbiz and it's as if they've tried to go with this on the shoot but fell short of her own personal style standard.
The grown up masculine styling just looks very flat and uninspired.
The outfit is bland and even her hair looks dull.

Hmmmm...What do you think?

Rachel

tfs

Rachel McAdams from last night's Sherlock Holmes premiere.
She is also on the front of Vogue's January issue.
But whilst she looked amazing last night I'm not sure about this cover, infact there isn't really anything I like about it.
Thoughts?...
