BFAs

Tonight saw the British Fashion Awards take place at the Savoy hotel in London.

It seems black was the statement of the night with the majority of fashionable guests opting for something dark and dramatic.
What do you think of Lily Cole's new look?
Personally I loved her red hair!

Happy Halloween

Some costume ideas for those who are still stuck...

from the incredible...
(how does Heidi do it every year, this lady is my fancydress hero)

... to the simple, yet effective.
(Gwen Stefani became a fried egg last year to take her sons trick or treating, complete with trademark red lips)

It's Official

I was starting to get bored of Alexa Chung.... (I know blasphemy!)
But she really was everywhere and even in photoshoots editors and stylists tend to use her personal style.
I bought L'Officiel in France cos the cover immediately caught my attention.
I couldn't find these images anywhere so have scanned them myself
(please credit Curiouser & Curiouser if you want to repost)

I think Alexa looks great, and although it's not too far from her usual look I think there is something very fresh about the editorial. It's nice to see her glossy and polished.
Love her in the Carven dress on the cover and first pic.
Plus the last two images are gorgeous.

Where to start...

Gwyneth Paltrow wearing, as yet unreleased Cruise 2010 Louis Vuitton
She is actually wearing the dress back to front - not sure if this was a styling tip to make it more revealing or a genuine mistake!!

Alexa Chung looking sparkly in Louis Vuitton Fall 2010 - I completely overlooked this top on the catwalk but it looked so very lovely on her.

Natalia Vodianova in my favourite look of the night - SS09
The colour was gorgeous on her and she looked absolutely radiant.

pictures from redcarpet-fashionawards.com, handbag.com,

There is almost to much to say about last night's LV party, the store, the party, Donna Summer, the forest, the yurt, the light bulbs, the dancers, the train carriage, the speakeasy, the flowers, the dancefloor, the corridors, the bondage orgy dancers...yes really!,
I will try and get some of my own photos up very soon but if you haven't read this in the Evening Standard tonight then have a look because I think it pretty much sums up the night.

Part Two

I think maybe I was a bit harsh on Kristen Stewart this morning...I've decided it's not her fault..it's the dress.
But anyway moving on..

fabsugar
Alexa Chung cemented her fashion status showing up in a Phillip Lim tuxedo on the arm of the designer. Not sure what I think about her latest look, but it's certainly different to everyone else - do love the shoes

Natasha Poly looked amazing in liquid gold - I love love love the dramatic make up on her

socialitelife
Sienna Miller made her first public appearance with Jude Law, looking beautifully sun kissed and whilst I'm not crazy about the Pucci dress, from the neck up I think she looks really great. Even Jude was looking much better than he has in a long time...they must bring out the best in each other.

fabsugar
Kate Bosworth turned to classic Hollywood glamour for her look and didn't disappoint in this gorgeous Valentino gown.

fabsugar
I was disappointed with Carey Mulligan's choice... and it saddens me even more to say that when I know it was Miu Miu. It's just doesnt seem quite right for the Met Gala.

rachelbilson-italia
I thought that Rachel Bilson looked cute in this Louis Vuitton dress from the Fall 2010 collection. It is quite different to her usual style and I think her hair and make up was spot on.

chicagoshopper
Maggie Gyllenhaal also chose Louis Vuitton but went for a much more dramatic entrance.

English take over Jalouse

I LOVE Jalouse magazine
but
I'm slightly disappointed by the UK takeover in the new issue.
I love Jalouse because I thought it was different and not just full of the same faces you see in UK gossip mags and 'cool kids' editorials.
So...they've used Alexa Chung on the cover (don't get me wrong, I love her style as much as the next blogger) but I don't like it.
Her editorial inside is much better, but they went a step too far including Peaches Geldof in this issue...ergh.

What do you think?
Yay or Nay to the UK takeover?

*EDIT* - Ok I'm an idiot, this isn't the new issue at all but June2009!!
Think I must have been half asleep when I wrote it....oh well

March Twenty Ten

Got home to find my March 2010 issue of Vogue ready and waiting for me...
Not sure why I was so shocked to see the cover featuring Alexa Chung, but even with her being everywhere these days I was surprised to see her peering out from the oversized, overbearing text of the UK Vogue.

I think it may be because as stylish as Alexa Chung is considered to be, she was never Vogue.
She's not glossy and showbiz and it's as if they've tried to go with this on the shoot but fell short of her own personal style standard.
The grown up masculine styling just looks very flat and uninspired.
The outfit is bland and even her hair looks dull.

Hmmmm...What do you think?

Whitney Museum of American Art Gala 2009

This girl is SIXTEEN!!! Could someone please remind her..or her stylist.
She kinda looks like a Donatella in the making...
Taylor Momsen in Versace.

Leigh Lezark in Versace.
Nothing bad to say about her ever.

Alexa Chung looks cute in this Versace number, though she doesn't look as glowing as usual.
